Von Shiba presents a unique and eccentric energy not just in his music but in the way he goes about life. You can’t force Von into a lane as he’s constantly creating in various mediums, with music being one of them. When you tune into the art you’re met with a creator who understands the flow of poetry yet packs a punch in every line. Since his inception Von Shiba’s prolific output proves his versatility extends beyond “dope rhymes” as he provides upbeat soundscapes for the weekend and reflective tracks for those nights off. This is just the beginning as Von Shiba has A LOT planned moving forward including a brand new project. Now’s the time to tap in.

“I’ve always heard music on the radio,” Von recalls, “Had my pop phase growing up.” His father got him his first rap CD but it was his older cousin introducing him to Lil Wayne “Tha Block is Hot” when Von was a teenager that really set his love for hip-hop in motion. “For years my brain constantly kept thinking of words that rhyme and how they could fit into a song format,” Von says. Growing up Von visted his mother who lived in LA where our hero made friends and eventually joined his first rap group called LTS. Von fell deeper into the rabbit hole, making music, crafting songs and freestyling when he was simply out and about. Von Shiba continued to sharpen his pen throughout high school continuing to write and freestyle. This led him to linking with a few peers from a different school and this was when he formed the rap group Known Ethics. “One day realized- that I was trying to force myself to stay in this lyricist lane when it clearly wasn’t for me,” Von recalls.

This realization is what gives Von Shiba the overwhelming versatility he presents in every track. Shiba has done the homework on both ends of the spectrum, he can make bangers for your late party but also slow it down and take an introspective approach to the music. “I like to get in my somber bag and let out that emo mood music because it’s therapeutic,” Von says. The diversity Von presents in the music isn’t just as black and white as “underground” versus “mainstream” as Von will pull from his history freestyling and watching rap battles as well. Still...it doesn’t end there as Von Shiba is owning the songwriting process crafting hooks and taking the time to come up with something that resonates with the listener regardless of the topic at hand. His debut single “Pull Up” is a track meant to bump in your whip and get the night started. Then you’ll have other singles like “Cigs” produced by J57 where Von is in his battle rap putting down the naysayers and taking the crown for himself. There’s no stone left unturned for Von and there’s guaranteed to be something for everyone, hip-hop heads, dancers, lovers, partiers and everything in between.

Here we are in 2021 and Von Shiba has proven to be a prolific talent who takes the craft and the art seriously. This extends outside the music realm too with Von being over 110 episodes deep into The VonCast where he interviews a different guest every week to cover a plethora of topics. From social issues to music, Von looks to have a candid interactive conversation with people all over the universe. While doing all of this, Von Shiba is also part FiveSe7en Collective assisting on behind the scenes work and eventually earning his spot on the roster himself. Shiba also ended up joining Ric Chavez’ Chavez Sound too. The pandemic took its toll on our hero but he’s coming back this year with new music videos, launching his merch line and giving his debut project. Don’t get left behind.
